Meet Jim Shaw, a true San Franciscan through and through, with roots tracing back four generations in the city by the bay. But Jim's heart truly belongs to the ocean. Growing up, he spent his days surfing and sailing along the stunning California coast, a passion that has stayed with him throughout his life.

After earning his degree from the University of California Santa Barbara, Jim embarked on a remarkable journey. He found himself delivering a majestic 64-foot sailboat to Costa Rica, where he would later spend over a year exploring the country and even playing basketball for a national league team. Costa Rica's vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes captured Jim's spirit, and it wasn't long before he knew he had to make it his home.

Upon returning to California to complete his graduate studies at UCLA, Jim couldn't shake the call of Costa Rica from his heart. His connection to the country led him back, this time for good. While working in a real estate and mortgage brokerage in Santa Barbara, fate intervened with a phone call from the Barcelo group, who were seeking a sailboat to charter for their new hotel in Tambor. Jim took a leap of faith, resigning from his position and heading to Costa Rica within the week.

At the Barcelo Hotel Playa Tambor, Jim found more than just a job; he found love. It was there that he met his wife, a charming local woman working in the hotel. Their love story has spanned 29 years and counting, a testament to the bonds formed in the most unexpected places.

As Tambor and its surrounding areas blossomed with growth and opportunity, Jim transitioned into real estate, leveraging his intimate knowledge of the region to assist newcomers in finding their own slice of paradise. Over the past 26 years, Jim has become a trusted figure in the community, guiding clients from Playa Naranjo to Montezuma in their search for the perfect property.

Jim's passion for development led him to create a 200-acre farm overlooking Tambor Bay, a project that fueled his entrepreneurial spirit. Since then, he has spearheaded the development of two residential communities, comprising 56 lots, and has constructed several homes in the area. With a wealth of experience in property sales, construction, and navigating the legal intricacies of the industry, Jim is a steadfast advocate for his clients, ensuring a seamless transition into their new lives in Costa Rica.
